About Saurian

Saurian is a video game in development by Urvogel Games LLC. We are focused on providing the most captivating prehistoric experience ever developed for commercial gaming: living like a true dinosaur in a dynamic open world through intense, survival based gameplay. Players will have the opportunity to take control of several different species of dinosaur in their natural environment. You will attempt to survive from hatchling to adult, managing physical needs, while avoiding predators and environmental hazards in a dynamic landscape reflecting cutting-edge knowledge of the Hell Creek ecosystem 66 million years ago. Saurian was successfully funded on Kickstarter by over 6000 generous backers, and is now full-steam ahead in development. Currently slated for an Early Access release in Q2 2017, you can pre-order the game on our BackerKit store by clicking here or on the banner above.

Cast of Characters

Play as Dakotaraptor, Pachycephalosaurus, Tyrannosaurus or Triceratops. Our eventual goal is to have each of these four complete their entire life cycle from hatchling to adult. Advance through multiple distinct life stages, each of which offers a different experience based on your growth and development. Once the base game is complete, we will also be adding two bonus animals, Anzu and Ankylosaurus, which were chosen by our Kickstarter backers. Learn more about our playable animals here.

Enjoyable Gameplay

Our team are not only scholars of palaeontology, but also of game design. The most important feature we wish to bring across with Saurian is an enjoyable experience. Each playable dinosaur will provide unique gameplay balancing interest, challenge and most importantly: fun. The final version of Saurian will feature multiple game modes to cater to different players, including a casual and realistic survival modes, a spectator mode (also available in VR), and eventually post-impact survival and even multiplayer modes.

Anatosaurus and the Name Game

One of the most frequently asked questions during Saurian’s development and Kickstarter campaign relates to Hell Creek’s resident “duck-billed” dinosaur (hadrosaurid), namely ‘where is it?’. This is a fair question; as the ever quotable RJ Palmer has noted, it’s absence is “like having the farm without the cow”. It might seem strange that we kept […]

Kickstarter Teaser- Saurian Original Sound Track (OST)

Here’s another sneak peak at one of our Kickstarter rewards. Francisco Godinho (or XZICD professionally) not only handles creature sounds, he’s working on our musical side as well. This track is creepy nighttime exploration music to raise the tension and make you wonder who’s really hunting who. Henry even jumped in for the violin! We’ll […]

Dakotaraptor steini: Ghost of the Floodplain Forest

“DAKOTARAPTOR! DAKOTARAPTOR! DAKOTARAPTOR! DAKOOOOOOTARAPTOR!” – Henry Meyers, October 29th, 2015 It’s understandable if you’re not quite as excited as Henry was when he found out about Dakotaraptor, but there is a lot to be excited about. For those of you who aren’t aware, Dakotaraptor steini is Hell Creek’s newly described, large-bodied dromaeosaur, representing a major […]
