Saurian DevLog #24 – Saurian is out!

Here we are at our first post-release DevLog. It has been a long road, but we’re finally here. We’d like to start off by thanking our fans for sticking with us, especially those who have been around since the early days. We’d also like to thank all of our wonderful Kickstarter backers as well–we couldn’t have done this without you and hope you are as happy to have the game out as we are, even in this early stage.

For any of you wondering about Kickstarter physical rewards: we have all of them ready to go with the exception of the physical artbook, which needs to be completed and printed before it can be shipped out. We’re working on this and plan to have it completed sometime before mid-November, at which time we will begin shipping all physical rewards out together.

As for the game itself, we have already put our first patch out already fixing some common bugs. We will be mostly focusing on fixing bugs and stabilizing the game in the next few patches before adding any big content additions. We thank you for your patience on this front and hope to address some of the most common problems you have been reporting. As for Mac users: we haven’t forgotten about you. We’ve just added some new Mac testers to our QA team and are working on getting you the game as quick as we possibly can.

Regarding progress toward the next patch, we have made significant improvements in our colour-correction, especially at night. Here is a little video for you to give a preview of what to expect from the improved lighting:

For those of us that included the original soundtrack in our original Kickstarter pledge is it included in the physical rewards you mention will be sent out around mid-November? I was just wondering on when/how to expect it. I’m really excited for the music!

the color correction looks much better; however both sunset and sunrise look like they’re pushing the green far to hard. the sun turns green during the sunset and during the sunrise it feels like it’s tinted very subtly with a lush green filter.

The likely reason for this is because your color correction method is moving through the hues so red when shifting via a add or multiply operation will go red -> pink -> blue -> cyan -> green -> yellow -> red, while a subtract or divide operation will go red -> yellow -> green -> cyan -> blue -> pink – red… i might have the backwards but color operations on hue are strange.

Absolutely incredible light cycle, all it’s gonna be missing now is the aurora borealis occasionally and the sub arctic light cycle it has.
